British Gas Team Sparks Change for Men’s Mental Health

We were proud to welcome a team from British Gas to Maverick Survival School as part of their initiative to raise awareness for men’s mental health.

Alongside taking part in survival activities and open conversations around wellbeing, the team also rolled up their sleeves to help build new areas around the school — creating lasting spaces for future participants to learn, reflect, and reconnect.

Their support highlights the power of community in tackling mental health and creating meaningful change.

Building More Than Fences – Building Hope

We are truly humbled by the incredible generosity of Paul Brunt and his team.

Today, they surprised us with a brand-new fence, a gate, and a freshly painted container complete with our logo – all given freely, with their own time, skills, and kindness. Paul has already done so much to support Maverick Survival School, and he still has more plans in the works.

Acts of generosity like this help us keep our mission alive, creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone who visits.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Paul – your support means the world to us.

1,000km of Kindness

We’re incredibly grateful to Graham Gardner, who has taken on an amazing challenge to support Maverick Survival School and Tulips Cancer Association.

From 1st January to 10th April 2025, Graham walked or jogged 10km every single day for 100 days – covering 1,000km in total – to raise vital funds for both charities.

Thanks to the generosity of 83 wonderful supporters, Graham raised an incredible £2,981, surpassing his target of £2,800. The funds were split equally between the two charities, helping both organisations continue their important work for those in need.

Graham’s dedication and the kindness of everyone who donated help us provide a safe, supportive space for veterans and individuals affected by trauma to reconnect with nature, build resilience, and rediscover focus.

We are truly honoured to have been part of this journey – thank you to Graham and all who supported him.

Charities United:

MSS and VOS Supporting Veterans Together

We were proud to welcome Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) to Maverick Survival School for a day of connection, conversation, and outdoor challenges.

VOS is an award-winning charity dedicated to meeting the welfare, wellbeing, and mental health needs of veterans and their families across the South of England. Their work provides a safe and supportive environment for former service personnel and their loved ones, offering everything from welfare guidance to social activities and specialist therapies.

Their visit to MSS was an opportunity to step away from everyday pressures and reconnect with nature while building camaraderie with fellow veterans. Together, we shared skills, stories, and support – reminding us all of the strength that comes from community and understanding.

We’re honoured to have welcomed VOS and their members to the woodland, and we look forward to working together again to help veterans find focus, resilience, and connection beyond military life.
